SORRENTO BACK BEACH

Service Description

This scenic Coastal hike will take us from Sorrento Back Beach along the rugged coastal trail and beach walks to London Bridge, an iconic Victorian lookout, a sandstone formation that has endured years of relentless waves, wind, and rain. Starting from the Sorrento SLSC, at the end of Ocean Beach Rd, we follow the trail through coastal shrub along the cliff tops with a short detour to Webster’s Lookout gives stunning views over the township of Sorrento and Port Phillip Bay. Following the main track past the lookout, we descend the stairs to the eastern end of Portsea Surf Beach. Proceeding barefoot along the scenic stretch of beach, before taking a rest and refresh at the Portsea Surf Lifesaving clubhouse, toilet facilities are available here. Explore the rock pools of London bridge before returning along the trail to the starting location. An easy-moderate graded hike, incorporating mindfulness, and conversation, the slower pace allows for connection and to appreciate the epic views & energy of the coastal vista. Approx. 9 km, the slow pace will see us complete the walk-in approx. 3-4 hours with breaks. Rug up and enjoy a winter wonderland in Sorrento, immersing yourself in Mornington Peninsula’s backyard.
