Service Description

Discover the therapeutic benefits of spending time outdoors, mindfulness concepts and the role of nutrition for optimal holistic health; A nature hike with a difference. Enjoy a picturesque walk between Merrick’s and Red Hill along the old railway line; once used for carting apples from the Peninsula to the markets of Melbourne. The train has long gone, however, the trails remain, taking in beautiful views and provides the perfect opportunity to anchor into a Mindfulness practice. Starting from Merrick’s end, we follow the trail through the back of vineyards and horse arenas before widening to an open vista of farmland and rolling hills. The trail is shared with horses, dogs, and even the occasional mountain biker. The wide path allows for the safe recreation of all. The trail climbs steadily for a few km offering views over Western Port to Philip Island and the Nobbies. After a sharp right turn, the trail continues down the steep hill to the end of Tonkins Road. The trail then continues to the left on the original railway's easement and ascends more gently to Red Hill. Experience the energy of walking through the pine tree forest and be guided through a sensory mediation under the pines, breathing in the beneficial phytoncides. Learn why and how different trees offer different therapeutic benefits. Maybe even spot a local red hill fox. We continue on to Red hill through small cuttings before emerging to the back of Red Hill shops. We can enjoy a coffee or one of the amazing treats that Johnny Boys bakery offers before returning along the path to Merricks. If booked as a Private booking, we can start either end to end the break at Merricks General Store or Red Hill, the choice is yours! We will discuss options upon booking.
