CAPE WOOLAMAI CIRCUIT

Explore a rugged coastline of Cape Woolamai & the iconic Pinnacles

  • 50 Australian dollars
  • Cape Woolamai Lifesaving Club Carpark

Service Description

Explore a rugged coastline with spanning views of the Bass Coast whilst mindfully immersed in Nature. Discover the therapeutic benefits of spending time outdoors, mindfulness concepts and the role of nutrition for optimal holistic health; A nature hike with a difference. Low lying coastal shrub hugs the sandy trails that lead us from our starting location at the Lifesaving carpark through to Cleeland Bight, the East Coast of Cape Woolamai. A low tide permits the beach walk for 1-2 km to the old granite quarry where we take a moment to reflect on the history and mindfully anchor ourselves in the present. A staircase takes us to the top of the bluff with sweeping views over Phillip Island and along the Bass Coast. Cape Woolamai is the highest point on Phillip Island and is also home to thousands of shearwaters from October to April. Make sure you have your camera ready to capture the many wallabies, lizards, and echidnas that call the Cape home. The wide dirt trail follows the ridge to a lookout, offering views to San Remo and along to Kilcunda. Continuing on the ridgeline to the highest point of the island, 112 m, we arrive at the Cape Woolamai Beacon. The sand-grass covered bluff gives way to rocky formations below whilst low lying trees provide shelter for the Islands birdlife. We continue along the trail, heading west to the iconic granite pillars that jut from the wild seas, The Pinnacles before a slight descent and staircase lead to Cape Woolamai surf beach. A 700m walk along the beach to the Lifesaving club rounds off our circuit. • Start/Finish: Cape Woolamai Lifesaving Club carpark • Distance: 8.6km return • Time: Approx. 3hours • Grade: Easy-Moderate small hills, wide compacted paths, and sand/beach walking- high exposure area • Bring: 1.5 L of water per person, fruit/snacks and money for any purchase, a camera & a positive attitude, wind/rain jacket as high exposure area * Start times may differ throughout the year due to tides and accessibility to the beach section of walk* An email is sent with all exact meeting locations and any other relevant information a day prior to departure.
